1st time at the track.

Myself and another tibby went to the track on friday @ Atco Raceway in NJ. Each getting 10 runs in, my best was a 15.1@91 with a 2.26 60' (08gt/auto with I/H/E and NGM U/L IM) and his was a 14.7@93 with a 2.3 60'(he has a 03se/6speed with I/H/E). Had a good night and it was my first time racing, couldnt figure out the best way to launch with my auto but I believe the 2.26 60' was respectable.

That does seem about right with good driving and cold weather. Ive run 15.1 with just intake and two mufflers not a full exhaust. But definately nice times. I think the auto tib should be in the mid 14's with i/h/e and the intake manifolds but i'm sure you will figure it out eventually.

good runs man ... and not bad at all for your first time ... with the auto thre are a few different things you can try to get off the line better and help shifting as well ... but all and all good job..

Good runs. That 15.1 you got, its about a 15.9 - 16.0 (maybe higher) Here in Vegas. That 14.7, is about 15.5 15.6. (maybe higher) Yup 2,100 feet above sea level PWNDEZ ya. (is one of the things I HATE about Vegas)

Theres a calculator I forgot the site. If someone wants to get ''technical''

care to share those tips with me :-), and i dont think getting off the line was my problem. My friends fastest 60foot was a 2.3 and he ran a 14.7 with that, i think its more about the shifting but ill take any advice you can give me.

just a quick question, kinda pointless but was just wondering. If I got the NGM cams and a BBTB, would that help my times alot? I want to be able to get under a 14.5.

I did a lot of runs at the track and tried a lot of different ways to get the Auto to get the best time .. these where the best results for myself but for you it may be slightly different ..

Stage the car
put the trans in shifttronic and leave it there you won't have to touch it again.
1st yellow light hold brake tight down
2nd yellow light stomp the gas to the floor
3rd yellow light release the brake peddle.
(Most people put it to the floor and leave it there through the entire stage lights, I found out by giving a half of second which is the time between the yellows, it works much better as the rpms are rising quickly when you let off the brake rather than holding steady at a certain rpm usually around 300 or so.)

Through first gear keep it to the floor until you hit right about 5800 rpm's release the gas maybe 1/4 to 1/2 way then stomp it back to the floor. (you may have to experiment which rpm is best for you to do that) It helps the trans shift faster the reason is that letting off the gas releases some of the pressure inside of the trans letting shift quicker. Run your car through second gear and do the same thing, but just slightly later maybe at 6000 and faster as well ..

This is on an 1/8th mile track but you can listen to the shifting between first and second.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/t...t-Vs_39846.htm

This vid will give you a better idea of the shifting, and you can hear how much faster my car was shifting with peddling the gas ...

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/T...-run_39875.htm

Damn watching that vid makes me miss my old girl .... Good Times ....

thanks for the great advice and to tell you the truth, shifting was the biggest problem... the 6speed tib that was there with me was pullin so much hard when he shifted then I did, but i had a better 60 foot then him. it felt like the car was laggin when it was tryin to shift in shiftronic. Ill deff try that and hopefully it will drop my times.
heres some vids from the track

I have to admit you was coming off the line really good man ... and if that is working good to keep your times down keep up with it .. but the main thing is practice and more practice ... Let us know how it goes man and keep us up to date ...
