it sounds like a metal on metal. its not always on, and sometimes it will go off when i let go of the brake but not when i push them so i dont think its brake related. it will go away when i turn my wheel far enough right (is the front drivers wheel). i recently installed springs and struts and on the side thats making the noise the drive shaft came half way out to where i had to rotate the rotor to get the spindal to line back up with the strut, and i would turn it a little until the shaft went in a little further. i didnt see any fluid so i didnt think that it had done anything. what should i check? how can i check it? take it somewhere?

If it was the passenger side axle then no fluid would come out and you are good there. Can you tell which side it is coming from in the front? I had a problem with the LCA rubbng on the rotor because I was lowered to much. Does it make the sound when turning or just random all the time?

im pretty sure its the drivers side, and it will go away if im turning right and sometimes left, mostly comes on going straight or slowing down/engine braking.

Sounds like something is rubbing. HAVE YOU TAKEN IT APART AND CHECKED IT YET? Sorry for the caps don't feel like fixing it......Also did you make shure to put the abs line and the brake line back in there spot on the new strut. And you didn't bend the brake dust shield close to the rotor did you?

i'm going to check now, just got home from work, thought i'd see if anyone had any ideas. i dont have abs and i'm pretty sure i put the brake lines back on the strut, i suppose it could be the shield, i'll check it too. i just wanted to see if people thought it might be the shaft coming out of the transmission or not.

shouldn't be as long as the axle nut is all the way tight and still cottor pinned.

you called it, it was the brake dust shield, also, i saw some grease around the end of the boot closest to the transmission on the drive shaft, should i be alarmed?
My seals started leaking around 60k, check it out...
