View Full Version : NGM Ice Box Intercooled MP62 Supercharger Kit 2.0L Beta II UPDATED 7/30/07 Last Page
nextgen03gt 03-03-2007, 07:16 PM Hello,
I am really looking into making an Ice Box intercooled, MP62 powered supercharger kit for the 2.0L Beta II guys. The kit will be all inclusive like our Assassin kit for the V6 guys. Let me know what you guys think?
Thanks T.C.
lostdestiny14 03-03-2007, 08:09 PM NGM with love for the i4 guys???
I don't think very many of them even check the site.
12secTib 03-03-2007, 08:34 PM OH but they will!! lol
ddemlong 03-03-2007, 09:04 PM I think its a good Idea TC, we woudl just have to start throwing it out there all over the web you are getting into i4, but i can see it going well... just dont leave the v6 guys hanging for 4 bangers :hangman: haha
Posted a link to this thread on crookedH:

Don't you worry... He has some nice stuff in the works. :wink6: I can't wait to see what you can do with the 4 bangers, TC!
Do eet man!!!!!
With all you guys have done for the V6, I know damn well you bust out some bad toys for us i4 guys
Also, how much projected power do you forsee with this kit?
nextgen03gt 03-03-2007, 09:58 PM Hello,
The Ecotec engine is a 2.0L that is intercooled with an MP62 and they are putting down some numbers in the 250-275 whp range with upgrades. The I4 stuff is going to be a little new to me, but so was the 2.7L V6 and see what we have done with that. I think it would really be an awesome kit that would be real easy to maintain. Boost control would be a pulley change and with a recommended 100,000 mile oil change in the nose drive of the blower makes maintenance almost non existant. I am actually pretty excited about doing this.
Thanks T.C.
deez337 03-03-2007, 09:59 PM Just make a write up on CH about it Tim. You know we have quite a few Betas lurking on there. If you make a thread in your section I will try to put a link on the home page for it....
ny2002elantragt 03-03-2007, 11:52 PM Followed the Link from CH..... Now im here! what kind of timeframe are you looking at for this? is this just in talks or are you ready to start pumping them out. Im lookin to have a supercharger by mid May if possible. Either way Im soooooooooo pumped you guys are even talking about this! i wish Alpine made products half as good as you!
nextgen03gt 03-04-2007, 12:11 AM Hello,
I can use a lot of the existing parts that I have now for my supercharger kits and integrade them into this kit. It is something that I am definitely going to start on. I have to look into a donar car or someone that can stop by the shop for measurements. I think I know some one with an I4 Tiburon that I can try and get ahold of. Also, I would like to look at an Elantra too. Im pretty sure I can release a really nice kit that will put out some very nice numbers. I am working with a piece that AEM sent me that is a piggyback fuel and timing controller that will allow tuning of the A/F and timing via a laptop. I will be implementing this on a V6 Tiburon next week to see how well it works. Once this is accomplished, I can use this as our engine management controller until we finish our ECU reflash equipment.
Thanks T.C.
KeWLKaT 03-04-2007, 12:15 AM oh my god
if you guys can come up with a intercooled SC kit for the i4 with a decent price, then I am a DEFINITE buyer, ill just sell my alpine TC kit!!!! i am not joking you!!!!!!! if i can help out with R&d funds just let me know
nextgen03gt 03-04-2007, 12:30 AM Hello,
I know I can come out with a really nice kit. I would fabricate everything just like I do for the Sniper and Assassin kits. I even machine the stock injectors we use so everything is plug and play. So far I have gotten as much as 680cc out of the factory injectors, so I know that wont be a problem. I just think an MP62 with an efficient water to air like my Ice Box will make some good numbers with an incredile torque curve, not to mention being able to throw a bag of ice in the resevoir at the track to really bring the torrque and HP into play. I will definitely have some question nd will need some answers on the 2.0L. If I can get some information on certain years and what years came with a MAF and what years came with a MAP that would help. This would definitely be a serious kit and not for someone that just wants a little increase in power.
Thanks T.C.
lostdestiny14 03-04-2007, 01:39 AM Once this is accomplished, I can use this as our engine management controller until we finish our ECU reflash equipment.
That the new tuning toy?
KeWLKaT 03-04-2007, 03:29 AM well this is pretty much it
tib:
2003 - MAP or MAF, depends on production date
2003+ - MAF
elantra:
2001-2003 - MAP (some 2003 had MAFs too)
2004+ MAF
MAF engines also came with the CVVT system.
Flatblackstrat 03-04-2007, 06:01 AM You are going to have some problems with the cvvt systems tc because they cause a valve problems when you go above like 10 psi i think most people just unplug the cable tha controls the system and it just disables it unless the ecu programing you will use is compatible to overide a rewrite the cam timing on the I4s. Im sure if you ask KDMGUY for nt.com he can fill you in on everything and anything to do with the I4 I think he has the HP kit for the beta that you can buy.
ny2002elantragt 03-04-2007, 11:30 AM No problem for Felix and I, neither of us have the CVVT. YAY! i'll buy one today! haha
Dude for 250-275whp,I will sell my turbo set-up in a heartbeat :)
The_wheelman 03-04-2007, 10:46 PM and what you could do for the Sniper style package is use the MP45 blower and then upgrade
ddemlong 03-04-2007, 10:48 PM just go for the MP90 on the I4 haha
chadoffl 03-04-2007, 11:18 PM NGM Hitman has a nice ring to it.
"whatcha runnin, dawg?!?"
"i gotsta the ngm hitman...know what i be sayin?"
*pelvic thrust**pelvic thrust*
ny2002elantragt 03-04-2007, 11:38 PM "HITMAN" :thumbsup1:  sick name!
what should i do.... run the alpine and then switch, or wait? i dont wanna wait till the end of the summer or nothin like that. IM SO EXCITED!
KeWLKaT 03-05-2007, 01:10 AM i can wait as long as it takes to be perfect, i still have a TC setup haha
ny2002elantragt 03-05-2007, 07:49 AM ^^^^^^^^^^
kind of! haha
ny2002elantragt 03-07-2007, 06:30 PM any more news on this? is this just a thought right now, or is it in the works? what month we looking at?
2K6Tib 03-08-2007, 02:38 PM Im definately in if this gets made too. I've actaually beeen contemplating trading the tib in for a Cobalt SS but this would solve my problem :thumbsup1: . What kinda price range would we be lookin at and would power be comparable to the cobalt? Thanks!
ny2002elantragt 03-08-2007, 03:09 PM hopefully more power than the cobalt!
ddemlong 03-08-2007, 03:17 PM i would hope to see it just under the base price for the sniper, i think alot of 4cyl guys would jump on it. That Tim, or you could work on a turbo kit for them also, give em options like the V6 guys have
2K6Tib 03-08-2007, 08:10 PM Just under the base price of a sniper would be great! Especially when alpines is 3200
Me want the S/C very badly
cuinhell 03-11-2007, 09:13 AM this looks interesing im gonna have to put a hold on purchasing my turbo and see how this goes.
Sharky 03-11-2007, 01:56 PM Im gonna buy this is you make it.
hitman sounds sick
nextgen03gt 03-11-2007, 03:33 PM Hello,
I really started looking at my Sniper/Assassin manifolds and I think that I can implement that manifold into the I4 kit by changing the angle of the manifold and making a box on the otherside of the intercooler core for the 4 intake runners. The manifold supports two blower platforms. The MP62 and the MP90. I think I can get this kit together pretty quick if everything goes well with the fitment of my existing parts. Also can you say MP90 full race kit? The manifold is drilled with both bolt patterns to accept the MP62 and MP90.
Thanks T.C.

well the honda guys get it done somehow....as do the mitsu guys....

Tim you are fucking nuts.....lil 4 banger with even the need for the air an MP90 moves just blows my mind.....i wanna see this shit....
nextgen03gt 03-11-2007, 07:35 PM Hello,
How would you like to see twin MP90's strapped to a 2.0 BetaII? LOL
Thanks T.C.
chadoffl 03-11-2007, 07:42 PM LOL You're giving all the 2.0 guys blue balls!
Hello,
How would you like to see twin MP90's strapped to a 2.0 BetaII? LOL
Thanks T.C.
I'd sell my delta for that sh!te.
REDZMAN 03-15-2007, 12:33 PM TC, this is Jeremy Zimmerman, I met you over at the Nopi Nationals this last year. I know you said at that time you had no interest in the RD's at all, but to let you know, the Beta 2 and Beta 1 have almost identical heads. The bolt patterns are the same, and the only real difference is that the Beta 1's are MAF and don't have the idle bypass integrated into the TB. It would be extremely easy to put this same setup on the Beta 1's, and that would open up the entire RD crowd, from 1996-2000 Elantras to 1997-2001 Tiburons my man.
Please, PM me or hit me up on any of the IM services, as I'd love to talk more to you about this and get a car over there for you to compare with. Alpine has been talking about doing a M62 supercharger system, but they are so flighty these days, who knows if it'll ever happen.
Also, please check your PM's.
cheesebox 03-15-2007, 01:44 PM Im also from rdtiburon and a supercharger would be awesome :thumbsup1: you definetly have interest from us and if anything your doing's around NY I will let my car be the test dummy :D
TopSpeedFX 03-15-2007, 05:52 PM Count me in for this. Ill show support to my RD brotherin. The betaII and Beta I are very close. A few MINOR modifications done and you can have a S/C for the BetaII and BetaI cars. I know that alot of the RD owners would prefer a S/C than building thier own turbo kit, and the only option is the Alpine which produces terrible numbers for the price!!
Kantizuni 03-15-2007, 06:27 PM ^^^ Everything they said seconded.
There is much interest from the RD community. Talk to Jeremy, hear what he has to say. You can make a lot of people very happy with this. :)
Northstar24 03-15-2007, 07:06 PM I am also a member of the RD community, and I would be all over a quality SC kit for the Beta I. From what I have learned in my brief time as a member of the Hyundai community, it is very similar to the Beta II, and a kit for the Beta I would open up First and Second gen Tiby's and Elantras as well
nextgen03gt 03-15-2007, 07:48 PM Hello,
If you guys want to help me out with the differences, I would be happy to try and make an interchangeable Beta I, Beta II kit, no problem. Like I was saying before, my manifold is double drilled for an MP62 and MP90 so both combinations would be able to be used on the same manifold. The kit would be intercooled with my water to air Ice Box and if everything works out in the next few months, my ECU reflash software could be integrated into the kit as well so you guys would be able to tune the combination on your own.
Thanks T.C.
ny2002elantragt 03-15-2007, 08:43 PM IM SO EXCITED, AND I JUST CANT HIDE IT, IM ABOUT TO LOSE CONTROL AND I THINK I LIKE IT!
im first in line! haha
JBLover 03-15-2007, 10:47 PM That would be crazy if you put an MP90 on the Beta! I would love to see that. You are going to be famous TC. Just wait, it is coming. You have too many good ideas and with such good work, it is inevitable.
REDZMAN 03-16-2007, 09:58 AM Actually, let me think for a second.
You are making a manifold that will bolt to the beta 2 head right? And the supercharger bolts to that.
So, the manifold will fit the Beta 1, 100%, no doubt about it. ONly thing that would be slightly different there is the Fuel Rail mounts, as ours are in a different position, but a couple of mounting tabs to relocate it would be dirt cheap tomake and include. Maybe a inch difference.
Then you make a TB flange to bolt to the supercharger right?
Ours would be easy to make. You'd just need to have one more stud mounting location (beta 1 TB's have 4 studs, in a square pattern, the Beta 2's have 4 studs, but one is offset), and a idle bypass port in the back side.
So really, you could either make ONE intake manifold with 2 sets of holes, and one TB flange adapter with 5 TB stud locations and the idle bypass, or 2 separate setups. All in all, should be VERY easy.
Injectors are a bit different, but that's just the wiring harness really. Give me some address info, and I'll get you a car when you need it.
cuinhell 03-16-2007, 09:07 PM wow a mp90 on a beta 2 i cant wait ot see this, im def holding off getting a turbo now
R_U_NVS 03-17-2007, 10:22 AM So would this new kit put down more whp than the alpine turbo kits.
nextgen03gt 03-17-2007, 12:12 PM Hello,
Hell yes. My goal is to look for around 220whp+.
Thanks T.C.
03sharky 03-17-2007, 03:08 PM woot i want this
fast2gnt 03-17-2007, 08:22 PM TC, if you build it, i'll buy it!
nextgen03gt 03-17-2007, 11:32 PM Hello,
Oh, Im buildin it dammit!!!!! I want to have some bad ass NGM supercharged Betas runnin around to you know. Maybe we can have some of you guys whoopin up on those Delta guys. Hopefully the Delta guys dont see this or I might get in trouble. LOL
Thanks T.C.

hey this just means you have to start making us some more power so we can stay ahead of the betas... cant wait for the tunable ECU your workin on :yay:
gsasha1 03-18-2007, 02:25 AM I'm also a BETA1 owner, that would LOVE to spend money on such setup....
Hoping for 250whp...
Found this on RDTiburon.com ...
wjohnson12321 03-18-2007, 07:35 AM Just signed up for this as im Beta II. This looks immense! I WANT I REALLLLY REALLY WANT! Please go ahead and produce this thing cas I will be one of the first in line to buy it! What kinda 0-60mphs will we be lookin at at 220whp? This is just the thing Im looking for for that power oomph! I didnt wanna turbo my beta II as a) I love that supercharger whine when u wind on the power b) Turbo looks a bastard to fit where a supercharger doesnt. c) No lag with supercharger. I was put off with the alpine kit as Ive seen more powerful hair dryers. But this looks fantastic. If you manage to get it at around the same or lower price as the sniper kit to that would be awesome. Oh yeh im in the UK too so hoping for first NGM S/C beta II in the uk!! WOOO YAY!:thumbsup1:
MRPHOTOMAN 03-18-2007, 10:19 AM I can't wait to see this, it is going to look/perform great!
byron 03-18-2007, 02:51 PM i am SUPER INTERESTED!!! I need boost! If the price of this kit is going to be a little less than the sniper, count me in!
j0hnh0lmes 03-18-2007, 04:06 PM I would be interested in this, I'm in Fl so if you need an elantra.... I do have cvvt though, you think you'll have much problems with the cvvt?
HyundaiKitCoupe 03-19-2007, 02:43 AM if NGM would make an I4 supercharger, we've got a lot of rd 96-01 tiburons with beta I engines that are remarkably similar, even the valve covers are a direct swap. any change of beta I I4 NGM's?
V6 GK guys agree NGM Assasins are by far the best superchargers. We'd be all over it from www.rdtiburon.com
wjohnson12321 03-19-2007, 04:55 AM Please tell me cvvt isnt a problem! PLEASE! Ive got cvvt and never even thought that it would cause any problems with a s/c unichip set up!?!?!? Im gonna start crying if it aint gonna play ball with cvvts!
Alton87 03-19-2007, 09:33 AM Im representing a Beta I also and if there was an NGM kit available i would be all over it. Also found out about this from www.rdtiburon.com
12secTib 03-19-2007, 09:46 AM Welcome to the forums.
cuinhell 03-19-2007, 06:39 PM do you have an expected date to when the prototype might be done?
Drial 03-19-2007, 10:09 PM I wish I found this a while ago. I bought an Alpine Entry level for my '03 in December and received it last week:mad: So about 3.5 months. I excitedly open the box to find I waited all that time for a box with only 2/3 of the parts in it. It was missing the Unichip, Wiring harness, Bracket, Heat shield, Fuel lines... the list goes on. If your kit comes out a reasonable price, I will be putting this POS back in the box and shipping for a refund so I can buy yours. Go NGM!! (sorry for rant :D )
j0hnh0lmes 03-19-2007, 10:49 PM ok so your not gonna say anything about the cvvt
streetcreeper 03-20-2007, 12:57 PM Oh im in for the beta kit!!!
nextgen03gt 03-20-2007, 01:35 PM ok so your not gonna say anything about the cvvt
Hello,
There is always problems with anything you try to modify. That doesnt mean it cant be remedied. Everyone told me the Delta was a piece of crap and I will go nowhere with that platform, but they were obviously wrong. I cant answer that question until I get there. I always find a way to overcome obstacles. Its only a piece of metal with electronics attached to it.
Thanks T.C.
phorq 03-20-2007, 06:24 PM I'm another RDTiburon.com guy with a beta 1 here.
This is great news! I'm going to keep an eye on the progress of this. I'd be very interested in this if all goes well!
spyder 03-20-2007, 07:08 PM Looky TC go....Expanding his empire:box:
LNHeart 03-21-2007, 12:32 AM Damn!! Another here from RDTiburon also with a beta 1.
If everything goes well this will be sold in masses!! I will be one of the buyers!!
wjohnson12321 03-21-2007, 04:40 AM Its only a piece of metal with electronics attached to it.
Thanks T.C.
That's a brilliant line!! I love that a piece of metal with electronics attached! Class! :D
FlyRyde 03-21-2007, 06:31 PM This is what I've been waiting to see you guys do for years now. With the market pretty much cornered on NT.com where we both sponsor, I haven't had too much interest in trying to get sales for NGM products. But after reading this, we gotta get any and everything from NGM on FlyRyde.com in time for our magazine adds specifically for Hyundais and Kias. I'd love to feature the new product right there in the mag and get you guys some free publicity.
I want to know every step of progress about this kit, as we have a full race car w/ beta1 and a street car also beta1 for FlyRyde. The Race car is turbo, but the street car would be insane with our current sponsors and an NGM S/C. Since we'll be hittin the mags come summertime, this might also be finished in time to get a unit on the street car before we submit it for a feature?
I'm stoked though, go T.C.! Use your tuning genious to make BetaII and BetaI guys just as happy as all the V6 heads!
lostdestiny14 03-21-2007, 06:47 PM That would be pretty sick to see NGM in magazine ads
byron 03-21-2007, 08:14 PM i'm sooo excited, i'm saving up right now! AH!!!
12secTib 03-21-2007, 08:19 PM I personally cant wait for this....

Thanks T.C.
REDZMAN 03-21-2007, 11:58 PM Here you go my man.
First 3 pics are of a Beta 1 Head (Note that Beta 1 Valve Covers are the 1/4 turn style for the oil cap, Beta 2 valve covers are more ornate, and use a SCREW in oil cap).
The others look like a beta 2.5, which is the CVVT version. Won't bother you for the fabbing. You'll notice that the Beta 2.5 valve cover has a SHORT end on it compared to the Beta 1 and 2, and the valve cover isn't swappable.
See, compare the number of bolts on the end of the valve cover in these two pics.
http://www.ngmhouseofpower.com/ngmimages/3-21-2007/mini-DSC00968.JPG
http://www.ngmhouseofpower.com/ngmimages/3-21-2007/mini-DSC00970.JPG
The top one is a Beta 1, bottom is a Beta 2.5.
The Intake Manifold shown in the pictures is a Beta 1, VERY early Beta 1 also, probably a 1997 or 1998 Tiburon or Elantra. It's got the badge on top of the manifold.
Also, the Beta 2 and 2.5 both have little bumps at the bottom of where the IM runners connect at the flange, in order to help atomization of the injector spray. The beta 1 does not have those.
balbains324 03-23-2007, 03:02 PM I already have an alpine supercharger kit on my RD beta 1, but I would definately be up for a MP90 Supercharger kit without doubt.....as long as you will ship to the UK...the money is waiting!!
From RDTiburon.com
larryinkc 03-23-2007, 04:09 PM Definitely interested in a SC kit for the Beta II with larger blower and intercooling. More power is a good thing.
Szilvertib 03-25-2007, 10:19 AM If you ship to europe, I would take a beta 1 kit definately!
KeWLKaT 03-27-2007, 01:41 AM Wow! This took off fast :)
wjohnson12321 03-27-2007, 03:53 AM How is this all going tc? Do you have any ideas when this is all gonna be fabricated so we can see the lovely piccys of I4 SUPERCHARGED!! I hope you can put a NGM Motorsports logo on the top of the supercharger that wud be sweetish. I guess a red intake manifold will be a bit lost with a 4 banger.
Will.
tdonnell 03-28-2007, 10:42 AM Hello,
Yet another interested person from rdtiburon here to voice his support.
I will be all over this kit when it is completed, hopefully soon, lol.
What are you looking at as far as price range goes?
BTW: I have a beta 1, no cvvt problems here!
Thanks so much for doing this.
nextgen03gt 03-28-2007, 12:43 PM Hello,
I am working on this as we speak. I am having the CNC manifold plate being made and waiting on it so I can mate my current Assassin/Sniper manifold to it. Dont worry, Its going to be bad hiney and I cant wait to finish it.
Thanks T.C.
REDZMAN 03-28-2007, 04:36 PM Any other info you need from us right now my man?
nextgen03gt 03-28-2007, 08:47 PM Hello,
From the Beta I to the Beta II in the RD, GK and XD, is the lower crank pulley in the same position on all of these combinations? In other words, does it stick out farther or have a different offset lower pulley? I bought a complete 2004 Beta II. If I set up the length of the nose drive for the belt based off of this engine, will it be the same on the others?
Thanks T.C.
jsdragonsoul333 03-28-2007, 10:23 PM Hell yeah! Do it TC, Get R Done. Why not. More fun for us, more money for you. You build good fun toys, people will come:yay:
wjohnson12321 03-29-2007, 04:44 AM Its all exciting!!! I just cant wait to see wot an I4 looks like with a big phat MP90 sat on top of it! Its gonna look IMMENSE! Looking forward to getting tos Next Gen Motorsport logos under my engine bay too! Want to go Supercharged sooo badly and dont want that excuse for a leaf blower that alpine calls a supercharger! 162whp my arse. We want the big guns!
REDZMAN 03-29-2007, 02:10 PM Hello,
From the Beta I to the Beta II in the RD, GK and XD, is the lower crank pulley in the same position on all of these combinations?
Yes sir, the block and everything else is in the same position, pullies are sitting in the same spots. Biggest problem you may run into is one of the following.
1. The RD engine bay is a bit smaller than the XD/GK engine bay.
2. Different ecu's, RD's run a 8bit, you know you guys have the 16bit.
In other words, does it stick out farther or have a different offset lower pulley?
Nope. We can even use the same pulley sets from ARK, jspeed, all of those. As a matter of fact, I've got several XD pulley parts from a 2004 Beta 2.5 on my beta 1. I've got the Jspeed pulley set for the XD, and the OEM XD waterpump sub pulley. Fits and works fine. I can get some side by side pics if you want, ABQElantra has a nice 2004 and we can get them right next to eachother for all the shots you want.
If I set up the length of the nose drive for the belt based off of this engine, will it be the same on the others?
Should be the exact same. It's part of the reason that Alpine put out the Beta 2 kits so quick, they had to do almost nothing to it to get it to work.
REDZMAN 03-29-2007, 02:11 PM Oh, BTW, let me know if you want to borrow my spare RD ECU harness and ECU, so you can see the differences.
FstrTib 03-29-2007, 06:38 PM REDZ...you sir are a BAD ASSSSS.......it is great to see all that info and the details on the differences of the Betas, because this only speeds up the process ten fold on getting you guys in the scary fast catagory with the rest of the mod squad....most excellent sir:D

REDZMAN 03-30-2007, 01:04 AM Thanks.
I'm obsessed for a reason. I've seen what these cars can do, any of them with a beta, over in Korea, in person.
We should make up a full listing of all the differences, to include pics.

uhm the MP90 would be to big for the beta my friend he's talking about using the MP62 which is what the Sniper has, the MP62 it's going to be plenty for the engine, the 2.7 barely eeks it out for recommendations on the MP90 it's recommended for 2.5L to 4.5L engines but i can't wait for the MP62 kit to come to fruition for you Beta guys the MP45 that Alpine uses is a joke it barely pushes enough air for a damn GEO Metro
REDZMAN 03-30-2007, 12:21 PM ^^^
TC seems to think it would work.
Hello,
I really started looking at my Sniper/Assassin manifolds and I think that I can implement that manifold into the I4 kit by changing the angle of the manifold and making a box on the otherside of the intercooler core for the 4 intake runners. The manifold supports two blower platforms. The MP62 and the MP90. I think I can get this kit together pretty quick if everything goes well with the fitment of my existing parts. Also can you say MP90 full race kit? The manifold is drilled with both bolt patterns to accept the MP62 and MP90.
Thanks T.C.
I'd be fine with the MP62 most likely myself.
http://www.capa.com.au/eaton_mp90_4th.htm
This says that the 90 is designed for 3.0 to 5.7 sizes, but can be used with others depending on desired performance.
http://www.capa.com.au/eaton_mp62_4th.htm
THis one says the 62 is for 2.0 to 4.0L.
Considering Alpine kept talking about doing a 62 on the beta, I'm quite sure that'll work. I don't know enough about superchargers though.
balbains324 03-30-2007, 05:42 PM Hi guys,
I have the alpine beta 2 hair dryer (MP45) on my beta 1 over here in the UK. The manifold and pulleys line up perfect no issues.
The only thing you may need to be careful on is the clearance between the supercharger and the firewall. Another issue may be clearence between the top of the supercharger and the hood with allowance for engine movement. I needed polyurethane engine mounts.
A few modifications are needed for right hand drive cars to use the same kit as the US guys e.g relocation of clutch and brake fluid reservoirs, accelerator cables nothing major.
FstrTib 03-31-2007, 09:32 PM Oooh.....I forgot they made right hand versions of these cars:eek:
tcaswell 04-01-2007, 06:26 PM This is really exciting news! I was informed about the work on a SC 2.0 I4 from http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14652&view=findpost&p=183283.
I just purchased a 2007 Hyundai Elantra Limited. Will this kit be designed to work in this application?
Also, I have the manual transmission. How well will either the stock automatic or manual transmissions handle the extra power? Any other weak links in the powertrain to be concerned about?
REDZMAN 04-01-2007, 07:52 PM Reading the thread would answer your first question. Reading any of the Hyundai forums would answer the rest. As a new Hyundai guy, you should make it your mission to go to each site dedicated to your car and sister cars, and do a hell of a lot of searching. Hyundai tuning is new to some, but some of us have been doing it for YEARS.

Any ideas how many hp its gonna take to run the MP62?
Any ideas what a Beta II Tibby 0-60mph is gonna be like?
I know these are prob very stupid questions but as soon as i get some figures in my head i will prob start drooling and getting stupidly excited about it.

MAKE THE DAMN KIT. STOP READING THIS AND GO WELD UP A BLOWER TO A BETA 1 MANIFOLD. NOW!!!! GO.
I am located in Jacksonville, Florida, I can donate parts or offer my services for testing if you need. I also have a stock manifold you can have for prototyping !

nextgen03gt 04-03-2007, 10:07 PM Hello,
I already have the CNC intake plate finished in solid works. The tool paths have been put to it and we should spit one out in the next couple days to mock up the runner lengths. My BetaII engine just showed up and on an engine stand and if everything goes as planned, I might have a true prototype in about a week or two.

No problem, you'll find that most "Newbs" have a habit of posting just in reference to the thread title, without even reading the first post, which usually answers 75% of questions.

Would you rather that no one answered your questions at all?
Me answering questions to TC helps get this project done, and for multiple cars, and tons of slathering tuners, me directing someone else, like you, to droves of information on the internet about this subject, helps one person, you.
No worries my man, we all start somewhere.

I think he said around 250 to 275 for the MP62 is what we are striving for. 250 and I'd be happy as a clam.

doomy 04-04-2007, 02:02 PM okok i have a question. this is for the 4cyl... sooo will this kit also work for DSM's since the motor is similar... you can even swap the heads on 4g63 motors found on Eagle talon, mitsu eclipse, laser's with the hyundai ones. we have a mitsu evo 3 that we took a hyundai 4 cyl head and grinded down the face polished and put on. if so i think it would open a huge market seeing as how cars with 4g63 motors are the 1998-2005 tuner car of the year. just wondering if the kit would work on those :)

I've got a full set of pullies for a Beta 1, but that's just the crank, PS, and waterpump. If you need help still if others don't come through, I'm sure I can get you a set easily.
That brings to light one other difference between the beta 1 and beta 2 models. The Beta 1 uses V Belts for the power steering/waterpump sub pulley. Other than that, they are the same as the beta 2 series.

cuinhell 04-06-2007, 11:31 AM that looks sick.
Is there gonna be any hood fitment problems, the blower looks a lil high
loneshark 04-06-2007, 12:55 PM yea, it looks like it will fit but the blower is gonna have to be real close to the valve cover and hopefully it doesnt hit the firewall, as you can see in many pics with the beta motor in a 2000-2001 tiburon, with an Air Ram manifold installed, it still comes extremely close to the firewall.
shit but i wouldnt mind cutting a hole in the hood !!! and having a nice shiney blower sticking out !!
might be more reason for someone to make a new hood for us !! LOL
REDZMAN 04-06-2007, 01:05 PM Ouch, looks like my new CF hood will keep me from buying this. Almost anyone is going to need to cut a HUGE hole in their hood to use this. Holy crap. Looking awesome though.
fasthyundai9 04-06-2007, 04:42 PM TC said it was just a mock up, that is a v6 manifold, but i'm sure he will make it a lot shorter to fit both beta I and II. Good job and keep up the good work, i'll check this post in another week or 2, so i can see how far you have progressed. I'm also very interested in this kit, heard about it from crookedh.com
REDZMAN 04-06-2007, 06:08 PM I know that, but if you look, he's got the runners from the v6 one down below where the I4 flange is. I don't see how you can cut much more space out, don't forget, we still gotta get fuel injectors in there.
Maybe a thinner icebox?
wjohnson12321 04-06-2007, 07:32 PM OMW That looks teh dogs bollox! Some of the best welds ive ever seen on that prototype! Yep im sure with some more fettling and reduction in ice box size that wud fit under an I4 tibby hood. Im more worried about where your gonna put all ur NGM stickerage t.c? Thats the problem with I4s! :-(
Big NGM Label on the supercharger itself maybe?
Looking mint tho! Just by looking I can now see this is gonna produce some MASSIVE Performance figures!
Keep up the good work t.c and keep us posted on how things go.

Pics look good, its just nice to see somebody is getting their hands dirty and getting the Beta some attention. The interest is all here, so what better way to make some cash while the topic is hot than to keep the progress coming!
damn this is just getting better and better !!
byron 04-08-2007, 10:53 AM might as well gone bigger lol

lostdestiny14 04-09-2007, 01:07 AM I wonder if they'll do a hood more like tibby03s
REDZMAN 04-09-2007, 12:22 PM ^^^
If TC is able to cut down the icebox and stuff like he said on the last page, there should be no need for one.
lostdestiny14 04-09-2007, 08:41 PM I know I read that. Just saying if there is a need for one, Im just curious what kind of design flyride will come out with
QUINT 04-10-2007, 02:53 AM Exciting stuff for all the Beta peeps. Can't wait to see the finally product:D
Man if I still had my old Elantra I'd be all over this like white on rice :muscles1:
tdonnell 04-11-2007, 07:20 PM Cool, beautiful welds there, I will be all over this when it comes out. I'll cut a hole in the hood without thinking twice, lol.
How much longer do you think until it is all said and done?
Any idea on a price? Under $5000 right?
Would my 8.8:1 wiseco pistons do me any good with a charger? Up the boost to about 15psi??
Thanks so much.
gsasha1 04-14-2007, 04:27 PM WOW great progress!!

I wonder if he is really busy or something, no replies for a while here.
cuinhell 04-15-2007, 10:17 PM hah u know i just knoticed in the pics of the SC on the beta is that its v6 IM vertically so i would guess that with it on the beta IM it should fit under the hood
cheesebox 04-16-2007, 12:25 AM Soo did you use a 6013 Fab electrode for those welds? How long have you been welding and where you using whip and pause because your welds put me to shame :( . Teach me all mighty welding master
wjohnson12321 04-16-2007, 03:34 AM Yeh ne more news t.c? Its gone all quiet. Yeh Im guessing fitting it under the hood with the correct IM and possibly a smaller ice box shud be fairly easy! I def would not want a hole in my hood either like that G35. That looks good because of its rear wheel drive setup and therefore its engine layout. A horizontal cut across a bonnet i think wud look very gay! Im sure this is unneccesary for us anyway tho!

Ummmm 6013 is for welding steel ... not aluminum. All of his welds are done using a TIG type of welder with a 6061 feed rod I imagine. You would never be able to get a stick welder to produce those kinds of welds, it can only be done with a TIG and somone with a very steady hand ... and LOTS of practice..

No hood cutting will be needed. I am machining up all the pieces and will have a complete design here very soon. Remember, I am one person serving all of the world with my products and I think I do quite well at bringing new stuff to the table in a timely manner. So, dont worry, I am still here and working on this project every other day. LOL The days in between I have to devote to my V6 guys. LOL I have a design that actually is pretty nice. I put a tremendous amount of thought into my products when I design them. When I have a certain way I want to do things, I design the product around it. I dont want to shorten the core to make it work, I just sit there and look at it for about an hour figuring a way to make it work without taking away efficiency and I already figured it out.
Thanks T.C.
wjohnson12321 04-16-2007, 01:37 PM Cool thats all sounding good! Sounds like your really bringing out some amazing products now for I4 and V6! Im already very impressed!
Keep up the good work bud!
gsasha1 04-16-2007, 01:44 PM Stop posting! Go sit near it for an hour!!
^^^^Sometimes I wish I bought a Beta instead of a Delta. Insurance might be a lil nicer to me. But it is fun having a V6 when lil ricer boys think i hve a N/A 2.0. T.C. yoy are the man.
wjohnson12321 04-17-2007, 03:45 AM oo t.c i forgot to ask. Roughly how much hp does it take off the flywheel to run an mp62? I presume its not that much more than an mp45?
:thumbsup1:

wjohnson12321 04-18-2007, 03:35 AM Ah cheers for the link. So about 6-7 more hp at full whack for the MP62 over the MP45. Not too bad altho 25hp to run a supercharger sounds a fair bit. Somet I will be able to show off to tho with some of my mates shitty low powered cars....
"Ha ha my supercharger needs the same amount of hp your whole engine is putting out!!"
Groovy!

FlyRyde 04-21-2007, 03:12 AM By the time this comes out, I should have a new widebody kit available, with about 10 sponsors on the car, and the S/C will finish up the package so we can start pushing the car to the magazines. I wont even crack the door open on the publicity until I can tell them about the all new S/C. Glad to know things are moving.
The_wheelman 04-21-2007, 03:58 AM guys just calm down rest assurred tc is working on it
lostdestiny14 04-21-2007, 04:05 AM yeah I bet he has at least 5 other projects going on also, for example his ecu reflash unit
REDZMAN 04-21-2007, 07:30 PM TC, did you get my PM answering your PM questions a week or so ago?
Feel free to call me anytime man. Also, if you want a RD ECU to look at, or the harness, I've got one of each I can send to you.
Also waiting to see if you want a few cars to measure engine bays.

Yeah I truly believe its going to be a sweet setup:thumbsup1:
wjohnson12321 04-27-2007, 08:48 AM Yep it is gonna be a sweet setup, I just slightly worried how quiet this thread has gone! Any more news t.c? Hope no massive design issues have arisen? I still think im gonna favour this setup over a turbo setup just because I love the whine of a supercharger in the morning! :thumbsup1:
nextgen03gt 04-27-2007, 12:03 PM Hello,
So far no major problems that I see. I havent really posted anything becaused we have been in the machining process. We finally have a billet plate with the injector bosses bored into it and that finally came out very nice. I have the design finished the way I want so its nice and compact in the engine compartment. Something that I am working on now is going to a six rib or eight rib belt design to avoid belt slippage when turning up the boost. That 4 rib just wont cut it, so I am working on some pulley designs that will replace the lower pulley, powersteering, and alternator. Believe me, my projects are well thought out before I put them out there, and I just want this to be a bad hiney kit that everyone will be like WOW!!!. I want the look and the performance.
Thanks T.C.
cuinhell 04-27-2007, 07:44 PM i like the sound of that TC. cant wait for everythin to be finished.

REDZMAN 04-28-2007, 01:50 AM Let me know if you want a spare set of the OEM pullies off a RD1, I've got them here and I'll send em to you.
j0hnh0lmes 04-28-2007, 11:40 AM TC I'm in FL if you need an elantra 04 to look at if your interested pm me to let me know what you wanna do
wjohnson12321 04-29-2007, 11:06 AM Thats sounding sweetish t.c! As we all know the 4 banger betas can take some serious boost so less slippage on that belt is gonna be brilliant! It should also mean we go through less belts than the alpine kit! (Ive heard of people replacing belts on these every 9-12months!) Should not be a problem here! Its all sounding a very nice package!! :thumbsup1:
Is it done yet? lol Just playing
JBLover 04-30-2007, 08:31 PM Dude you don't think anything through, you slap that shit together in the dark...
Actually the build quality is so awesome on everything I have purchased so far it is crazy. I have recieved so many compliments on the quality of the why my S/C looks it is crazy!
This kit will be crazy, I just can't wait to see the numbers it puts down.
I actually wanted a S/C but wasn't impressed by the numbers that the Alpine kit for the betaII was producing.I want a nice smooth powerband from start to finish.

greywolf6984 04-30-2007, 11:24 PM can wait... tc do you know if the stock fuel pump is going to handle the power. and for the auto guys will you set them up i heard a rumor that it couldn't handle to much power
REDZMAN 05-01-2007, 02:04 AM Your rumor was wrong. There's a I4 GK running low 10's by APE. The twin engine RD tiburon has 2 auto transmissions.
It'll hold the power.

The_Hat_Guy 05-01-2007, 01:58 PM killer T.C., good to hear that this is coming along nicely.
And the alpine pansy, dvanderek or whatever, is whining about your products on NT again, lol. He's just mad that he supports a company that puts out inferior products.
Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the finished product.

chadoffl 05-13-2007, 11:00 PM what kind of valve body work would i have to do to produce
You probably won't have to do the valve body work as the controller will be good enough for our power levels. Just hang in there because we are going to be installing the controller on my car with a bone stock transmission and we will have updates at that time. I know everyone keeps saying its coming and hold on, but seriously it will be here within weeks. :)

patience is a virtue i waited 3 years to get S/C this kit will be worth it the Alpine uses an MP45 blower this kit uses an MP62 it's alot more effecient than the 45, when you get the alpine kit and see your numbers you'll wish you would've waited for this kit be patient and wait:nono:

Pheww that's cool. Still really looking forward to this kit coming out! Im desperately saving my pennies and waiting for my warranty to run out. Im really looking forward to getting a power boost at the moment cas one of my mates has just bought a top of the range new Audi TT 3.2 V6 with the DSG gearbox and I was completely blown away by the pure acceleration. Makes my 2.0 tibby feel like a crippled snail. I dont expect my tibby to ever meet the 5.5 seconds to 60 that thing takes but wud love somet that wud feel as fast as that!
