In the end the car will be in Jet Black with smoked tails, and everything blacked out. be getting my motor back this week or next but will not do the install until the twin disc comes out. If Tim says it will be a while then I guess I will get a stage 5 and baby it to roll miles. Also hopeing for stand alnoe but may run MAPECU to get it running. Car has been down since June 06. Seven months in Iraq then a tear apart. Car is mostly back together just waiting on the final components and me to finish the body work and paint it.

nice cars, i would find a different tire than the T1R's though, im usin them now and all i get is wheelspin and after only a few heat cycles they get hard and loose grip easy

so you work on camp lejune ... im sorry ... i absolutly hate that base with a passion

No I work on Cherry Point and I have T1R's on all my cars now and love them. I used to run Yokohama's , then switched to BFGoodwrench. So for nothing has compaired. The only other tire I want to run is a goodyear eagle F1 Supercar and I do not see paying that much for a street tire, as those will be. I will be running D.O.T. racing tires most the time for road courses anyways.

What?! How did you get your motor already if you are not even planning on installing it anytime soon? I have been waiting over six months for mine....

Side note - I like where you are at so far and I am interested in what it will look like when done.

The new added hole is for the oil cooler and that is just the rough cut. It will be smothed out and set in a lil bit when done.

No worries, I catch myself saying goodwrench instead of goodrich all the time! By the way, KDW's FTW at the track!

Well I am tired of tring to keep the car street legal so that is out of the question now. Doesn't mean that I wont keep the Illinois plates for it cuz who in North Carolina will know. Just means that the car will be set up only for road racing. No stereo, no speakers, no side windows, no street tires, no street rims etc. It will pretty much be a chassis with cage and a whole lot of NGM under the hood to make it go. One seat, extinguisher system and all. Hopefully I can start getting some r&d on suspension components in the 09 season. Thats my goal at least.

What the car looked like new when I bought it July 12 2005.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p209/dawgincustoms/car011.jpg

Well the motor is in the car so I can mock up the oil cooler lines and make sure the fitment is good on everything, and clean up the wiring harness a lil bit. My wife calls in Betty Boot now cuz the intake manifold. All the other items in the engine bay will be powder coated when I get back from Iraq. Thats when T.C. hopefully can get me the twin disc clutch, hydra, and a few small goodies. Also my headers will be in from Korea (seoulfulracing type b), as well as new headlights, tail lights and some carbon fiber pieces (hood, hatch, and low style wing). I will still be posting but the will be no progress on the tib till I get back. Then I should ave the car running with 2 months of being back. The only thing it should need then is paint. Oh be the way, I am suppose to be back in the begining of October and I leave next week.

Well here are some pics of the progress from today. I removed the font clip. Yes its all molded together but I needed to do some work to it that would be easier off the car and I need to do some work behind it. Once I got it off I decided to move the oil cooler location. I am going to look into mounting it where the passenger side fog light would go. I doing that I am going to put in the road runs upper grill. Use it to break up that flat piece and let in a lil more air, while making it look good. I also needed to do quite a bit of work to the door jams and just do all the finishing work to the body. Plus it will allow me to focus on geting it running when I get back and then be able to work the front clip off the car.

This may very well be the best "coming to life" story of a car i've seen.

Sticky this thread someone.

I don't mind doing work to anybody's car. I love cars and almost everything to do with them (transmission internals excluded). Small jobs I can do quick and easy. The bigs ones just cut into my project time but not normally to much. If I can do a RHD conversion in 4 days with a complete firewall replacement on a 240 and swap the ka for an rb25 and run the wiring, I think I can pretty much tackle any task pretty quick if I just sit down and do it. The only reason mine is taking so long is because the lack of parts at the level I like to build cars (twin disc, hydra, throttle body etc.0 but all these problems are being solved.

Well I am off to Iraq today and will not be posting for like a week or so until I can get everything set-up over there and make sure my uys get what they need. I can't wait to get back and get the Tib up and running, along with helping out in the R&D for suspension components.
